Ioanna Chatzigeorgiou ist Teil des diesjährigen Jahrgangs des START- Create Cultural Change Programms. Seit Anfang Oktober ist sie im KulturBahnhof Viktoria in Itzehoe und arbeitet an ihrem Projekt AudioPlexus: Zusammen Instrumente bauen, Musik machen, Geräusche erforschen, eine eigene Radiosendung aufnehmen – und ganz nebenbei Inklusion leben.

Itzehoe. Ein paar Wochen vorher hat Ioanna-Mirto Chatzigeorgiou weder vom KulturBahnhof Viktoria, der Organisation K9, noch von der Kleinstadt im hohen Norden Deutschlands gehört. Für sechs Wochen ist sie nun als START-Stipendiatin aus Thessaloniki im KulturBahnhof Viktoria und setzt ihr eigenes kleines Projekt AudioPlexus um. Ihre Idee: Do-It-Yourself-Instrumente mit Mikroprozessor-Elektronikboard und interaktiven Technologien.Da kann man sich erst einmal nicht so viel drunter vorstellen. Doch Ioannas hat glasklar vor Augen, was sie damit erreichen möchte: Mit Musik und ebendiesen Instrumenten die Inklusion auf kommunaler Ebene vorantreiben und damit besonders Menschen mit speziellem Förderbedarf unterstützen. Teilnehmer zwischen 10 und 16 Jahren mit und ohne Handicaps sollen in gemischten Gruppen die Möglichkeit haben, sich selbst auszudrücken und neue Fähigkeiten zu erlangen – unterstützt durch Methoden der non-formalen Bildung.

Anstoß für eigene Ideen
Ioanna hat schon eine ziemlich genaue Vorstellung wie der Zwei-Tages-Ferienworkshop am 18./19. Oktober aussehen soll: „Wir werden mit ganz ungewöhnlichen Gegenständen und Materialien Musik machen und lassen Dinge zu Geräuschen werden, die ihre ganz eigene Geschichte erzählen. All das wird gemeinsam erstellt und aufgenommen, sodass es zu einer etwas anderen Radiosendung in unserem eigenen Sender StörFrequenz wird“, erzählt sie.

Hinter dem KulturBahnhof Viktoria steht Ioannas Aufnahmeorganisation, K9, Koordination für regionale Kultur. Der KulturBahnhof ist ein soziokulturelles Zentrum für Kreativität und Engagement, dem es um die Verknüpfung von städtischer Veränderung, Kultur, Lernen und Inklusion geht. Die Idee ist, dass die Erlebnistage, die hier stattfinden, auch für Kinder und Jugendliche in Griechenland ein Anstoß für eigene Ideen werden könnten.

Erfahrung mit Jugendaustauschen

Vorangegangen war eine Vorbereitungsphase in Berlin in der die jungen Kulturmanager den deutschen soziokulturellen Sektor kennen lernen konnten und ihre Kenntnisse zu Projektmanagment, Fundraising und Empowerment erweitern. „Wenn das Projekt in Itzehoe in vier Wochen vorbei ist, werden wir uns wieder treffen für ein Abschlusstraining in Stuttgart – da besteht dann für die Hälfte von uns die Chance, unser Projekt nach Griechenland zu tragen und es dort umzusetzen“, erklärt Ioanna. Das alles ist für sie nichts ganz neu, hat sie schon an vielen Erasmus+ Austauschen teilgenommen oder als Projektleiterin der Organisationen ActArt und Votsis Youth in Action Club (VYiAC) über 500 junge Menschen zusammengebracht. Eigentlich ist sie studierte Elektrotechnikerin: „Das ist auch der Grund, warum ich immer mehr wissenschaftliche Methoden und Technologien in meine Jugendarbeit eingeführt habe“, erzählt sie.

AudioPlexus wird gefördert von START – Create Cultural Change, einem Programm der Robert Bosch Stiftung für aufstrebende Kulturmanager in Griechenland, das in Kooperation mit dem Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki und der Bundesvereinigung Soziokulturellen Zentren e.V. sowie mit Unterstützung der John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation und der Bodossaki Foundation durchgeführt wird.

Insgesamt 30 soziokulturelle Begegnungen in Deutschland wurden in dieser Projektrunde initiiert. Die Projekte der START-Stipendiaten aus Griechenland und deren deutschen Gastorganisationen sollen interkulturellen Austausch ermöglichen und einen Grundstein für neue Kulturinitiativen in Griechenland legen – außerdem auch den sozialen Zusammenhalt in ihrem lokalen Umfeld stärken. Durch kulturelle Innovationen und zivilgesellschaftlichen Engagement können so natürlich auch neue Perspektiven für Berufseinsteiger in Griechenland entstehen und der europaweite Zusammenhalt gestärkt werden, heißt es auf der Homepage des Programms.

Social inclusion through music and technology

Hello, this is Ioanna. I am a Greek girl staying in small and lovely Itzehoe. I am currently diving into the sociocultural sector in Germany, developing AudioPlexus, a mini-project in the northern countryside. The story STARTed like this:

Three months ago I was selected as a scholar of START – Create Cultural Change. START is a capacity building and fellowship program for aspiring cultural managers in Greece of the Robert Bosch Stiftung, conducted in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki and the German Association of Sociocultural Centers. It is supported by the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and the Bodossaki Foundation and takes place in three phases.

Phase I offers to 30 cultural managers from all over Greece an intensive training and an opportunity to experience the German sociocultural sector. We officially began our journey on 21^st September when we arrived in Berlin for a 10-day training on project development, fundraising, social empowerment, etc.  After that we spread all around Germany to design a 6-week mini project in a sociocultural center. We will also meet again and receive a final training in Stuttgart. Half of us will pass to Phase II and deliver a 6-month project in Greece, applying in practice what we’ve learned during Phase I.

Previously in the same story
For the last 15 years I have been travelling around Europe to take part in sociocultural projects mostly funded by Erasmus+ and recently through the Sonderprogramm for German-Greek Youth Exchange we developed with our partner organization Grüner Grashalm e.V the Ostsee-Odyssee exchange. Since 2014 I am the project manager of ActArt and VYiAC youth groups in Thessaloniki with which we have involved more than 500 young people and youth workers in a wide variety of projects locally and internationally. My background in Electrical Engineering is what made me gradually introduce science and technology in my youth work. As a result, I developed a wide range of STEAM classes for schools, the State Museum of Contemporary Art and last year I participated in a previous START project, AstronArt.

So this is how I ended up in Itzehoe. My host organization is K9 Koordination für regionale Kultur and it develops several projects concerning urban development, culture and social inclusion. Together we are delivering the mini- project for Phase I.

Don’t miss the next episode
Our project aims to increase the opportunities for social inclusion in local communities for people with special educational needs through music making by using microprocessors development boards and interactive technology. It will involve participants, 10 to 16 years old in mixed abilities musical group. In this way, they will gain an understanding and new skills towards social inclusion, an opportunity for self-expression through community music making and a hands-on experience with microprocessors development boards and interactive technology.

A variety of inclusive non-formal educational tools will be used for the successful team-building of the musical group. The participants will then develop new musical interfaces and/or instruments by using technology and used or recycled material. They will, finally, have the chance to interact with their common creation and integrate it as part of their musical creations along with other instruments, voices, etc. It will be a two-day workshop, run by a collaboration between social workers, musicians and tech experts. So stay tuned for our musical creations.
